Aisha Barker

I am a dedicated, hard-working, enthusiastic team player. I am an aspiring production Co-ordinator, specifically in children’s TV dramas. I have a degree in television and radio production.I am currently working as a trainee production specialist at ITV Granada Reports gaining technical and administrative skills and I am looking to move my career towards my goal of working in production management. I am passionate about creating products from start to finish as smoothly and efficiently as possible.

One of my main roles at Granada Reports is working in Traffic in the newsroom. This involves a lot of planning, organisation and communication. Assigning desks and newsletters, coordinating camera men and liveU, being involved in the planning and working on OBs on location. As well as booking lines with other regions, ITN and BT tower, Additionally I have developed skills with racking cameras, working on the floor, catering for the needs of the presenters, talent, director and PA. I have been training in sound, basic directing and visions mixing. I have enjoyed learning these hands on technical skills but I feel my passion and skills are more lended towards the planning and production management side of production.

I have completed the ITV mandatory training for Code of Ethics and Conduct, Cyber Security, Date Protection and Privacy, Climate Action and Fire Safety. I have completed Risk Assessment Training.

I enjoy working with children and to be able to one day work on some tv programme that work with children I have been developing my skills of working with and looking after children. I worked as an apprentice nursery practitioner during the pandemic and I was working on my NVQ in Early years. I did extensive research into health and safety, safeguarding, risk assessments, child poverty, looking for and acting on suspected signs of child abuse and rationalisation.  Additionally, I have lived and worked in America as an au pair, looking after children and learning the cultural differences between British and American upbringing, How parents interact with their children and the differences between British and American children’s programming for example on a number of the PBS shows there is more focus on humour rather than education.

I feel my knowledge and experience will help me be a beneficial member of your production team.
